Our weekly roundup of Rye sports

From wrestling rivalries to overcoming a three-year drought, Rye and Blind Brook teams had an interesting week in sports. 

The Rye Country Day boys basketball team got a huge win on Monday beating Hamden Hall for the first time in three years, but then suffered defeat in their next game.

The RCDS Wildcats wrestling team went head to head against the Rye Garnets. The Garnets prevailed, winning 40-36.

The Garnets ice hockey team shutout Somers/North Salem 11-0 in a game where senior Paul Mundinger tallied his 100th career point. The team bounced back from two losses and a tie to currently stand at 6-3-1.

The Garnets boys basketball team didn't fare as well. They suffered a low shooting night and lost by 13 points to the Port Chester Rams last Friday, 56-43.

Other scores from the past week include the Lady Garnets basketball team suffering a 12-point defeat to Byram Hills, 44-32, but rebounding to crush Port Chester, 40-17 in a following game. The Lady Garnets also were victorious against John Jay, 43-35, winning two out of three games this week. 

In boys basketball, the Garnets beat Byram Hills, 58-45. They also beat John Jay High School, 77-44, and Leake and Watts - Carol Frank Biondi Cnt High School, 71-37 on Friday. 

At Blind Brook High School, the Lady Trojans lost to Pleasantville, 54-50, and then suffered a loss against Westlake, 48-34.

In boys basketball, the Trojans lost to Pleasantville 57-39 and to Roosevelt High School, 65-38. In hockey, Blind Brook shut out Horace Greeley, 7-0. They also scored a narrow victory against Pelham, 2-1.
