It is the Pub Ryots second trip to the finals, last reaching the final round their first year in the league 25 years ago.

The Pub Ryots led 5-1 after one to eventually lead 10-1 heading into the third and 14-3 after three innings, before the Ballbuster's started their rally to trail by four at the end of six innings.

When played resumed Thursday, Slater scored the Pub Ryots first run of the inning to cap the victory at 17-12, causing the large crowd and Pub Ryot teammates to begin celebrating on the field.

Kari Kohn struckout two batters and walked five in seven innings on the mound for the Pub Ryots.

Sharon Liguori pitched six innings for the Ballbuster's, striking out one batter and walking no one.

Ballbuster's Coach Bobby Piovesan was impressed with Liguori's performance on the mound.

"She pitched very well," he said. "But the defense let her down."

Piovesan said that the Ballbuster's had too many errors.

"Unfortunately we came up short," he said. "Too many mistakes and we couldn't overcome it."

The Ballbuster's end the season at 10-4, while the Pub Ryots improve to 5-9 heading into game one of the finals Monday at Rye Recreation baseball field at 6:15 p.m.
