Westchester County Center Hosts Autograph Show

JP’s Sports and Rock Solid Promotions Inc. will be at the Westchester County Center this weekend in White Plains for a sports card and memorabilia show. Several former and current baseball players will be in attendance to sign autographs so whether you like the Yankees or Mets make sure to check out the . Mike Piazza and John Franco will be there on Saturday while Gary Sheffield and Hall of Famer Goose Gossage will be there on Sunday.

The “Winter Extravaganza” will host 300 tables and 150 booths of local dealers from across the tri state area.

Doors open today from 2-8 p.m. and the event will go from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. tomorrow and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Children under the age of 12 are free for all three days and admission costs $7 per adult, per day. Admission on Saturday or Sunday entitles you to one free autograph from a former Met pitcher. On Saturday the free ticket can be used for Al Jackson and on Sunday admission is good for a Jon Matlack signature.

If you are heading in for autographs get there early because the lines for some of the former greats can get long quickly. If you are going for cards and memorable it is a good idea to go late on Sunday to get the best prices from the dealers.

 

Worlds Tallest Basketball Player Comes to New York

The Harlem Globetrotters recently announced that the 7 foot 8 inch Paul “Tiny” Sturgess will be coming with the team on their trip to the New York area in February. 

Born in England, Sturgess is now recognized by Guinness World Records as the world’s tallest basketball player. He is two inches bigger then former Houston Rocket Yao Ming.

Sturgess and the rest of the Globetrotters will be at the Izod Center in East Rutherford New Jersey on Feb. 17 at 7 p.m. and Feb. 20 at 1 p.m. The Team will also be in Newark at the Prudential Center on Feb. 18 at 1 p.m. and Madison Square Garden the same day at 7:30 p.m. The Globetrotters will play two games on Feb. 19 at the Nassau Coliseum on Long Island at 1 and 5 p.m.

For those fans who would like to stay a little closer to home the team will be appearing at the Westchester County Center in White Plains on Feb. 14 at 7 p.m., but the roster has not yet been released for that game.

Highlights: The Titans had to fight and claw there way back from behind but Sal Giacomo and Kevin Fusco each found late goals to give the team a hard fought victory over an established program like White Plains.

In Boys Basketball, Rye heads to Port Chester at 4:30 p.m.

In Girls Basketball, Port Chester heads to Rye 4:30 p.m.

In Boys Swimming, Rye and Ossining meet up at the Ossining Community Center at 4:30 p.m.

In Boys Basketball, Blind Brook will host Byram Hills at 8 p.m.

In Girls basketball, Blind Brook will host Clarkstown North at 6 p.m.
