Three Steps To a More Secure Blind Brook District

The superintendent has detailed ways the district will increase its safety and security.

Following the massacre at Sandy Hook elementary school in Newtown, Ct., Blind Brook school district officials are planning three significant steps to further ensure the safety and security of their campuses.

Following a special board of education meeting on the topic of safety, which more than 125 people attended, Blind Brook superintendent William Stark detailed the steps in a press release to the community.

Blind Brook will have an increased police presence on Ponterio Ridge Street, middle and high school campuses until long term measures are put in place. School officials will contract a consultant to perform a safety and security audit. And, thirdly, the district will review existing security plans and ensure all procedures are strictly adhered to.

"Raising the level of security is a complex process," Stark wrote. "It will require support from the community. That support includes participation of all consituencies including, the Board, employees, students and parents."

Stark asked the public to contact the district with any concerns and recommendations regarding safety.

Let's look at the appropriateness of this post. First, it's clearly an ad because it points to aRead More specific insurance agent at a specific agency to contact. Second, it attempts to hide being an ad behind what may be useful information (or not). Third, the "person" who posted it doesn't use their real name. Instead, they use a pseudonym Divorce Information NOW. That doesn’t seem terribly reassuring to me. This the third advertising post on the “announcements” space since Rye Patch converted to the new site layout. Seems a bit of a mess to me. But hopefully someone will come along and figure out who the real poster is, their link to the advertised agent and agency, and then delete the post. After all, if it’s an ad, it should be labeled as such and the poster should pay for having it run. If that doesn’t happen, Patch won’t be able to pay its employees to keep real content on the site.
