Teacher Carin Mehler filed a lawsuit yesterday against the Rye City administrators and trustees, according to the Rye Record.
It's been almost a year since the scandal broke that Rye City School officials were investigating allegations that four teachers improperly coached students during last spring’s Common Core testing.
The teachers are Osborn Elementary fourth grade teacher Carin Mehler and third grade teacher Gail Topol and Milton School teachers Dana Coppola, third grade, and Shannon Gold, fourth grade.
Teacher Gail Topol has returned to the classroom.
Shannon Gold resigned in January.

Superintendent Frank Alvarez said he made the decision to place the teachers on administrative reassignment after district officials were informed May 7 by a parent of a possible testing irregularity with regard to the New York State Standardized Tests for English Language Arts and Mathematics.
Reporter Sarah Varney wrote, "The suit charges the defendants with depriving Ms. Mehler of her right to teach in order to coerce a waiver of due process rights, and “deprivation of liberty interest without due process” essentially impinging on Ms. Mehler’s future career opportunities by damaging her reputation."

Ryerecord.com also reported that district officials had issued a statement saying the suit had no merit.
The suit asks for $1 million in compensatory damages and $1 million in punitive damages, sources said.
