Rye Youth Council Honors Joe DeRuvo

An update from Rye Middle School.

Rye Middle School Assistant Principal Joe DeRuvo was honored by the Rye Youth Council at an Annual Benefit Gala on January 26.

He was recognized for his many contributions to the children of Rye.

Mr. DeRuvo has served as an educator in the District since 1969, when he was hired as a teacher at Osborn School. In 1990, he joined the Middle School staff as a permanent assistant to the principal, and was later named Dean of Students before he took his current title of Assistant Principal. In addition to his responsibilities in these capacities, Mr. DeRuvo is notorious for his participation in various school plays and storytelling programs.

Mr. DeRuvo serves as the Middle School representative for the Rye Youth Council Board, a role he has held for 20 years. He has been involved in countless events and initiatives within the District and the RYC. His colleagues, friends and family celebrated this acknowledgment and congratulated him at the gala.

Let's look at the appropriateness of this post. First, it's clearly an ad because it points to aRead More specific insurance agent at a specific agency to contact. Second, it attempts to hide being an ad behind what may be useful information (or not). Third, the "person" who posted it doesn't use their real name. Instead, they use a pseudonym Divorce Information NOW. That doesn’t seem terribly reassuring to me. This the third advertising post on the “announcements” space since Rye Patch converted to the new site layout. Seems a bit of a mess to me. But hopefully someone will come along and figure out who the real poster is, their link to the advertised agent and agency, and then delete the post. After all, if it’s an ad, it should be labeled as such and the poster should pay for having it run. If that doesn’t happen, Patch won’t be able to pay its employees to keep real content on the site.

Don't feel so bad. The Patch doesn't even acknowledge that PC is a waterfront community. We've allRead More been shorted.
