Rye HS Senior Wins Con Edison Athlete Award


Rye High School senior, Rachel Egan has been recognized as Con Edison Athlete of the Week. This awards highlights the region’s outstanding student athletes who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, citizenship and school and community involvement.

 

Rachel is a four-year member of the Varsity Basketball Team and was the captain for two years. She was named to the 2013-14 All-Tournament team after leading Rye to victory at the Dan Divirgillio tournament at Hackley. Rachel is also on the Varsity Soccer Team, which she has been a captain as well. Rachel shares her passion for athletics and sets an example by acting as a mentor for youth in the community. She teaches swim classes at the Rye Golf Club, volunteers as a Rye Soccer coach in the summer, and participates as a member of the Varsity Athletes Against Substance Abuse (VAASA) school organization.

Rachel takes a number of Advanced Placement and Honors courses. She serves as treasurer of the chorus program and helps them plan trips and events.
