Rye City and Blind Brook School Districts Extend Memorial Day Holiday

Rye City and Blind Brook School Districts say the Memorial Day weekend will include extra days off on Friday, May 25 and Tuesday, May 29.

The mild winter just keeps paying off. Rye City School Superintendent Edward Shine says it seems unlikely the district will need to use its snow emergency days this year, so the banked time will be used to book-end Memorial Day weekend.

At the Monday night meeting of the Board of Education, Superintendent William Stark added the same flex-time to Blind Brook's schedule.

Students will have Friday, May 25 and Tuesday, May 29 off from class this year extending the Memorial Day holiday.
