RHS Senior Henry Pearson a Presidential Scholar Candidate

A press release from the Rye City School District.

Rye High School Senior Henry Pearson was recently named a candidate in the 2013 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program. This program recognizes students based on their accomplishments in areas including academics, the arts, leadership and school/community involvement. It is said to be one of the highest honors a graduating senior can achieve.

Approximately 3,700 out of over 3,000,000 graduating seniors have earned this prestigious distinction. Henry was selected based on his outstanding academics, as demonstrated through his ACT/SAT scores. He is a multi-talented and dedicated student who has demonstrated his determination through participation in a wide range of activities and programs. His academic excellence includes a schedule filled with advanced placement and honors courses, science research program participation, and National Honor Society membership, as well as extensive studies of the Chinese language. Additionally, Henry is an athlete, a musician, and an active member of his community.

On the sports side, Henry is an exceptional squash player. He is number one on the Varsity team ladder and has participated in the 2012 High School Nationals. Musically, he plays the guitar, piano, drums, baritone, and bass guitar. He is in a band that has performed at a number of school events and is in the process of compiling its second CD. He shares his musical talents at community service programs, working with underprivileged children.
