RHS Model UN Team Visits Washington, D.C., Earns Awards

A press release from the Rye City School District.

Students from Rye High School’s Model United Nations club attended the Georgetown NAIMUN Model United Nations Conference in Washington, D.C. during February. As another highlight to the trip, students received a private tour of Georgetown University and visited museums at the National Mall.

The Rye students represented the nation of Columbia and also served on specialized committees ranging from the Roman Senate, the Russian Duma, and the Muslim Brotherhood. Over 3,500 students from around the world attended this event and learned about the work that is done in the United Nations.

Rye High School students excelled, bringing home honors reflecting their efforts. Daniel Keller, a junior, received the Outstanding Delgate award for his work on the trial of Omar al Bashir. Sean Regan, also a junior, received a Verbal Commendation award for his work on the historical committee on the British East India Company. Congratulations to Daniel, Sean, and all other participants.
