Photo Gallery: Blind Brook Seniors Kick Off Prom Night

Hundreds gathered on Birch Lane for a pre-prom event before sending Blind Brook seniors off to prom.

The typically quiet Birch Lane was flooded with photographers, party busses and satin dresses on Thursday night as the Rye Brook community came together for a pre-prom event before sending Blind Brook High School seniors off to their prom at Willow Ridge Country Club in Harrison. Despite traffic and rain, neighbors poured in from every direction for this annual event.

This year, the Treacy family volunteered to host.

"We have twins in the grade so I guess we had double the reason to host it," Kevin Treacy, father of Blind Brook seniors Danielle and Claudia said. "Our house lends itself to the event because of the big garden and ability to accomodate the large amount of people."

There are about 90 students in the senior class, but close to 1,000 people attended the event.

"This event has been happening every year for as long as I can remember," Blind Brook junior, Thomas Ferrer said. "It's really an opportunity for all the parents and all the kids to come together and take pictures."

Let's look at the appropriateness of this post. First, it's clearly an ad because it points to aRead More specific insurance agent at a specific agency to contact. Second, it attempts to hide being an ad behind what may be useful information (or not). Third, the "person" who posted it doesn't use their real name. Instead, they use a pseudonym Divorce Information NOW. That doesn’t seem terribly reassuring to me. This the third advertising post on the “announcements” space since Rye Patch converted to the new site layout. Seems a bit of a mess to me. But hopefully someone will come along and figure out who the real poster is, their link to the advertised agent and agency, and then delete the post. After all, if it’s an ad, it should be labeled as such and the poster should pay for having it run. If that doesn’t happen, Patch won’t be able to pay its employees to keep real content on the site.
