New Cell Phone Policy Puts Blind Brook Nurse in the Loop

A new cell phone policy will make it easier for the Blind Brook school district's nurse to keep in touch with students and parents.

Can you hear me now? The Blind Brook Board of Education unanimously agreed Monday night to a policy change that will allow the school nurse at Blind Brook Middle/High School to keep in touch with students and parents with a school district owned cell phone.

The current district cell phone policy allows most administrators, principals and select staff members use of a district-owned cell phone for school related calls. Now that list of authorized users will include current high school nurse Nancy Garreto.

Superintendent William Stark told the board the policy change was necessary to provide the nurse ability to make voice calls and text message students and their parents about ongoing concerns.

Access to the cell phone will be limited to school hours and communication related to student health concerns.
