John Jay Defeats Rye in Section Finals

The Rye boys hockey team played a strong game against John Jay.

Despite a strong game by the Rye Garnets, the John Jay Indians defeated Rye in the Division 2 title game at Brewster Ice Arena on Sunday.

The final score was 5-1, but the No. 2 seeded Garnets forced No. 1 Indians to work hard for that win and title, according to The Journal News’ Nancy Haggarty. Read the full TJN story here.

The Garnets defeated Horace Greely, 4-1, in the semifinals on Friday, Feb. 22 and Hen Hud (No. 7) 9-0 on Feb. 20 at Hommocks Park Ice Rink.

John Jay will now advance to the to the Section 2 playoff against Queensbury on Saturady, March 2.
