How Healthy is Your School? Blind Brook School Lunch Nutrition Calculator

We calculated the nutritional content--including total calories and grams of fat--in 10 popular items on Blind Brook's school lunch menus.

School lunch programs across the country could be receiving an additional $4.5 billion in funding if a measure currently moving through Congress is approved.

Though only 16 school children in Blind Brook received free or reduced lunches, if passed, the bill could have lasting consequences on many school districts by setting nutritional standards and promoting farm-to-school programs and sustainable garden initiatives.

As a complement to our feature article on Blind Brook's school lunch program, Rye Patch has created an interactive feature tabulating the estimated calories, milligrams of sodium and grams of fat, fiber, carbs and protein in 10 items on the lunch menus for Blind Brook schools. On Monday, Rye Patch did a similar feature on the Rye City School District.
