Richard Ginsberg, Ph.D., author of "Whose Game is it Anyway? A Guide to Helping Your Child Get the Most from Sports" will be the first lecturer of the Heard in Rye Speaker series for the 2013-14 school year. This presentation will take place on Thursday, September 26, at 7:30 p.m. in the Rye Country Day School Performing Arts Center located at 3 Grandview Avenue in Rye. Admission is free. Everyone is welcome.

Dr. Ginsburg is an assistant clinical professor of the Harvard Medical School and the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), co-director of the MGH PACES Institute of Sport Psychology, and director of psychological services for the MGH Youth Sports Concussion Clinic. He works with children, adolescents, and has provided services and expertise to a number of athletes and teams including several at Harvard University as well as the U16 and 17 Women’s National Soccer Team, the Boston Breakers and the NBA Players Association. A former athlete at both the high school and college levels, Dr. Ginsberg also previously served as an independent school teacher and coach. 

In addition to the Heard in Rye lecture, Dr. Ginsburg will be visiting Osborn and Milton Elementary School students to discuss resolving conflicts on the playgound, and he will speak to Rye Middle School seventh- and eighth-graders about using adversity to improve character and performance. He will also be meeting with a group of local athletic directors and coaches to discuss issues relevant to their sports communities.
