Heard in Rye Lecture

“Adults and Children in Organized Youth Sports: Who Wins, Who Loses?” will be explored by Bob Bigelow at the November 17 Heard in Rye Speaker Series lecture.

The lecture will be held in the Rye Middle School Multipurpose Room, located at 3 Parsons Street in Rye, starting at 7:30 pm. Admission is free. Everyone is welcome.

Bob is a four-year NBA player and first round draft choice who explains that, although he graduated high school as one of the top fifty basketball players in the country, he rarely participated in organized youth sports during his childhood in the 1950’s and 1960’s. Bob now counsels adults on how to keep their youth sports involvement in perspective while enriching their children’s experiences, and has led over 1,000 presentations throughout North America, including one in Rye several years ago. His lecture will prompt parents to think about why their kids play sports, and understand what their own motivations are for being involved.
