Big Read Discussion of "A Thousand Splendid Suns"

The Osborn with the Rye Free Reading Room is pleased to announce its participation in the "Big Read", a nation-wide reading event. Everyone is encouraged to read A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hossaini, author of The Kite Runner.

The Big Read was inaugurated in 2006 by the National endowment for the Arts and since then has spread throughout the U.S. It was started in response to a 2004 report that reading was declining in the U.S. among all groups, especially the young. The Osborn invites members of the public to join our residents in a lively discussion of this very noteworthy book. The discussion will be led by Mary Lee Berridge who is experienced as the volunteer leader of the acclaimed weekly News & Views program for the independent living residents of Sterling Park at The Osborn.
