Blind Brook Music Students Shine

The following Blind Brook Middle School music students have been recognized for their talent, hard work and dedication to music.

Thank you to Don Whitman, Blind Brook MS Instrumental Music, for sending the following information, which highlights the great accomplishments of the BBMS music students. 

The following students were selected to participate in elite concerts based on their New York State School Music Association scores during last year's solo evaluation:

  • Sammy Landino, Jordan Coker and Conor Vogt, 8th grade band students, attended the NYSBDA State Wide Middle School Honor Band Concert in Liverpool, NY on Friday, March 1 and Saturday, March 2 .  
  • Josh Handler, a 10th grade Baritone Horn player, was selected for the NYSBDA State Wide High School Honor Band and performed with the group in Liverpool, NY on Sunday, March 3.  

Annie Liu, a 7th grade tenor saxophonist and pianist, was a winner in the regional PTA reflections program for composition and is now advancing to the state level.

Multiple students are participating in the All-County Music festival being held this Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

  • The All County Jazz Festival – Friday, March 15 at 8:00pm at Ossining High School with a clinic at 7:00pm by Trumpeter and Arranger Tony Kadleck.  Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for seniors and $5 for students.  Features Blind Brook High School students Will Saunders, Kyle O’Neil and Tucker DePaola.
  • The All-County Elementary and Intermediate Band Festival – Saturday, March 16th at 11:00am at SUNY Purchase.  Tickets are $22.50 plus service charges.  Featuring Blind Brook Students Melissa Blum, Sammy Landino, Conor Vogt, Divya Kumaran and Noah Sergio.
  • The All-County Elementary and Intermediate Choral Festival – Saturday, March 16th at 4:00pm at SUNY Purchase. Tickets are $22.50 plus service charges.  Featuring Blind Brook Students Isabel Steinberg, Carly Kabot, Ryan Vogt, Gabe Landau, Emma DePaola, and Tommy Hanson.
  •  The All-County Elementary and Intermediate Orchestra Festival – Sunday March 17th at 11:00am at SUNY Purchase. Tickets are $22.50 plus service charges.  Featuring Blind Brook Students Daniel O’Neil, Evan Wallace and Alexa Limb

Let's look at the appropriateness of this post. First, it's clearly an ad because it points to aRead More specific insurance agent at a specific agency to contact. Second, it attempts to hide being an ad behind what may be useful information (or not). Third, the "person" who posted it doesn't use their real name. Instead, they use a pseudonym Divorce Information NOW. That doesn’t seem terribly reassuring to me. This the third advertising post on the “announcements” space since Rye Patch converted to the new site layout. Seems a bit of a mess to me. But hopefully someone will come along and figure out who the real poster is, their link to the advertised agent and agency, and then delete the post. After all, if it’s an ad, it should be labeled as such and the poster should pay for having it run. If that doesn’t happen, Patch won’t be able to pay its employees to keep real content on the site.
