Blind Brook HS Student Stars in Commercial

MSG Varsity features Jonny Stern as an ostentatious wrestler.

Jonny Stern does not wrestle or act, but he has probably fooled you if you have seen him in the latest MSG Varsity wrestling commercial.

With the cocky confidence of a professional WWE wrestler, Blind Brook High School junior Stern plays a student wrestler hamming it up for the MSG Varsity cameras in the commercials. He is also featured in a print advertisement.

Stern responded to a request for audition from the daughter of a Kipperman Casting agent who he knew from high school on Facebook. He auditioned once and got the part of a wrestler, even though the sports he plays at Blind Brook are football, soccer, skiing and tennis.

“I take a lot of pride in being a student-athlete because it is not an easy thing to do,” Stern said.

The role of ostentatious wrestler was fitting for Stern, who admits to being a ham with a good sense of humor.

He shot the commercial in about five hours in one day and loved playing the part.

“It's a great feeling and experience because I know that my friends, family and other people in the tri-state area who subscribe to cable will be able to see my talents,” he said.

He has received a lot of support from friends and family and is considering pursuing a career in acting now.

“This is just the beginning,” he said.
