Benefit to Support Speaker Series at School of the Holy Child

The private preparatory school held a luncheon and benefit to support its library and speaker series.

It was a gathering of parents, alumnae, parents of alumnae and trustees of the School of the Holy Child luncheon and boutique last week, in support of library programming. Held at the , the event drew 200 guests for the Maureen Alison McGrath Memorial Library.

Proceeds from the event will help purchase new library resources and support the library’s speaker series, which brings innovative leaders, authors and artists to campus to share knowledge, experiences and best practices with students.

“The event was a success,” said head of school Ann F. Sullivan.

Rye author Lucia Greenhouse also spoke of her coming of age memoir entitled, “fathermothergod: My Journey Out of Christian Science,” which describes her growing up in Christian Science.

The benefit will continue to provide speakers such like that brought in October 2010: scholar and filmmaker Abigail Disney, granddaughter of Roy Disney and the grandniece of Walt Disney. At that time, School of the Holy Child screened her film “Pray the Devil Back to Hell,” which she made with Emmy Award-winning director Gini Reticker.

School of the Holy Child, established in 1904, is a Catholic, independent, college-preparatory school for young women in grades 5-12.
