Hearts are heavy as news of the passing of Vincenzo Tamburro makes its way to his colleagues and friends.
Tamburro's death on Wednesday, Aug. 31 was an unexpected loss for his wife Karen and four children: daughters Taylor and Morgan, sons Jake and Kyle.
Tamburro had served as Building Inspector for the City of Rye since 1997, and prior to that as assistant to the City Engineer from 1989 to 1996. A member of the New York State Building Officials Conference, National Fire Protection Agency, and the American Public Works Association, Tamburro worked for three different muncipaities during his 24-year career.
As recently as this weekend's storm, Tamburro worked with dedication and earned the respect of everyone at Rye City Hall.
Mayor Douglas French noted “the City is filled with great sadness today with the sudden passing of Vinny Tamburo. In his quiet and principled way, Vinny served with great dedication and made Rye a much better place. He is missed and will be for a very long time. Our hearts go out to his wife Karen and 4 beautiful children.”
