When the Journal News published a map of gun ownership in Westchester County on Dec. 22, the article went viral and a mix of opinions flooded the Internet. While some protested the decision to publish the public information, others said they were glad to have it. Many were not concerned with privacy rights or ethics of the matter, and just wanted to see who they knew who owned guns.
A look at the map shows that the city of Rye has less registered gun owners than many other towns or cities in Westchester County. There is a gun owner in almost every neighborhood and Forest Avenue is the most populated with gun owners.
To the west, Harrison is much more heavily populated with gun owners, as is Port Chester to the north.
