Rye Brook Mayor: 30 Roads Cleared, Con Ed Estimated Restoration Nov. 9-10

A message from Mayor Joan Feinstien, Mayor of Rye Brook.

This is Joan Feinstein, Mayor of Rye Brook. I know this is a difficult time for most residents as 78% of the community is without power, including the Port Chester High School and the Bruno M.Ponterio Ridge Street School.

Our municipal buildings are on generators but are operating with limited departments open including the public works, sanitation, building, and administration offices.

A Con Ed crew has been in Rye Brook since Tuesday morning with the first priority being public safety issues and the opening of streets for emergency access and removing downed wires from streets. To date 30 Rye Brook roads have been cleared and all of our main roads are open. Any down wires should be considered live and should not be touched.

This morning Con Ed advised all municipalities that the target date for restoration of the vast majority of properties without power is November 10-11.  We were also informed that power restoration has begun and activity will increase starting this weekend as more crews arrive from outside the area.

The AJP Community Centerlocated at 32 Garibaldi Place is open from 9AM to 9PM as a Warming and Community InformationCenter.  Residents can stop by and ask questions to Village staff about power outages or obtain information that we have from Con Edison including dry ice distribution.

I thank you for your patience and as a community we will get through this crisis.
