UPDATE: Metro-North New Haven Line Trains Ordered to Stop

Update 5:17 p.m.:

Not only is the New Haven Line affected by the delays due to a power outage at Grand Central Terminal, but the Hudson and Harlem lines as well, according to the MTA website (see far left column).

Update 4:56 p.m.:

At 4:46, Metro-North posted this note on its website:

"Due to an earlier power outage in Grand Central Terminal we are currently experiencing delays of up to 40 minutes in both directions."

Update 4:32 p.m.:

MTA Spokeswoman Marjorie Anders told Patch the train stoppage was due to a "power control problem in Manhattan."

"We should be back in business by 4:21," Anders said. 

Anders said the MTA expects a half-hour delay on New Haven Line trains, but would not elaborate

All Metro-North New Haven Line trains have been ordered to stop at the next station they reach and wait, according to a broadcast from the Rail Traffic Control Center in Grand Central Terminal. The announcement said the control center has “lost control” of the line.

The MTA could not be reached for comment.
