Letter to the Editor: Former Mamaroneck Mayor Supervisor Tom Murphy

Paul A. Ryan, Former Supervisor, Town of Mamaroneck, submitted the following letter to the editor in support of Murphy.

FROM PINEBROOK  TO MILTON POINT – AND ALL POINTS IN BETWEEN

Tom Murphy is campaigning to represent you, the residents of District 7, in the County Legislature. As a private citizen and someone involved in local government for over 30 years, I can attest to Tom’s honesty and ability to analyze, lead and solve problems.

Someone commented that Tom knows the Village of Mamaroneck but not the rest of District 7. My answer is simple. Mamaroneck Village is a microcosm of this whole country. It has wealth and it has poverty. It has people “to the manor born” and it has undocumented workers. It has flooding and it has beautiful natural resources. It has housing that runs the gamut from cold water flats to McMansions – and it is under constant threat of over development that can ruin the beauty of our coastal community forever.

Tom knows these problems and, with his background, he can not only represent us well, he can stand up with and to all the leaders in County Government and say, ”I’ve been there”. There is no “fluff” where Tom Murphy is concerned. Tom is a leader who leads from the front and he leads by example with courage and conviction.

Tom Murphy isn’t rich. He can’t afford an expensive campaign with professional firms to write his message. He depends on us, the citizenry to see that Tom Murphy is reality. He is Everyman. And he deserves your vote and a chance to show you what he can do as your public servant in the Westchester County Legislature. Please vote for Tom in the Democratic Primary Election on September 10th. Thank you in advance for your help.
