Keith Thanks Supporters; Congratulates Myers

Rye Councilwoman Suzanna Keith thanks supporters, congratulates opponent in District 7, County Legislature election.

Editor's note: This release is reprinted in its entirety as received by Patch. District 7 is comprised of Mamaroneck, Rye, Larchmont and parts of New Rochelle and Harrison.

Following the release of the final vote figures, Rye City Councilwoman and Westchester County Legislator candidate Suzanna Keith congratulated her opponent Judy Myers on the outcome and thanked voters for their support.

She promised to remain engaged on the issues voters brought to her attention during the course of the campaign. She also pledged to remain a strong advocate for District 7’s taxpayers.

“I congratulate Judy Myers on her win,” Keith stated. “I wish her well in carrying out her responsibilities of office.”

Turning to the election, Keith thanked the voters who came out to support her. She called the election “a big victory for democracy.”

“I look forward to continuing my work on the Rye City Council—I will work even harder than I did before to show my commitment to the issues I know are important to all of you. I also want to thank all those who came out in support of my campaign,” Keith added. “While the end result of our election did not go our way, we still scored a big victory for democracy. We listened to the residents who spoke loudly and clearly about our County’s tax burden and I will continue the effort to make our County more affordable.”

Finally, Keith thanked her family friends and campaign volunteers.

“Without the loyal support of all these people, and especially, of my family, this campaign would never have been possible,” Keith said. “I owe them an enormous debt of thanks. Andrew, Grant, JP, and Kiki were the best partners and supporters I could ever have had.”

Let's look at the appropriateness of this post. First, it's clearly an ad because it points to aRead More specific insurance agent at a specific agency to contact. Second, it attempts to hide being an ad behind what may be useful information (or not). Third, the "person" who posted it doesn't use their real name. Instead, they use a pseudonym Divorce Information NOW. That doesn’t seem terribly reassuring to me. This the third advertising post on the “announcements” space since Rye Patch converted to the new site layout. Seems a bit of a mess to me. But hopefully someone will come along and figure out who the real poster is, their link to the advertised agent and agency, and then delete the post. After all, if it’s an ad, it should be labeled as such and the poster should pay for having it run. If that doesn’t happen, Patch won’t be able to pay its employees to keep real content on the site.
