Gillibrand and Lowey Tour Flood Damage in Rye

US Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and Congresswoman Nita Lowey will tour Rye today with County Executive Rob Astorino, Mayor French, the Rye Fire Department and emergency response providers.

Aid is on the way. In an effort to assess the full extent of damage to the Rye area and hasten federal disaster funding, US Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and Congresswoman Nita Lowey is touring the downtown business district this morning with a contingency of officials including County Executive Rob Astorino and Mayor Doug French.

After a briefing on conditions throughout Westchester at Rye City Hall and the tour, officials will hold a press conference to answer questions about the efforts already underway to secure disaster aid from federal sources, including the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

The group will also be joined by Rye firefighters and emergency service personnel who responded to flooding reports after Hurricane Irene.
