FEMA Center Closes Monday

The FEMA assistance center at the Westchester County Center to help with Hurricane Irene disaster claims will close shop on Monday.

The FEMA Disaster Recovery Center operating at Westchester County Center for the last three weeks, will close its doors Monday. Residents needing further assistance can contact FEMA by phone or online.

The last day of operation at Westchester County Center will be Monday, Sept. 26 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The center will be open Friday, Sept. 23 and Saturday 24, but be closed Sunday, Sept. 25.

Before going to the Center, residents or businesses should register for an appointment by calling FEMA’s registration number 1-800-621-3362; or online at  www.disasterassistance.gov.

According to the County Executive's office, approximately 1,500 Westchester residents have applied for FEMA assistance, 250 at the temporary centers set up at White Plains and Mount Kisco.
