Westchester County 9/11 Ceremony at Kensico Dam Plaza in Valhalla

Westchester County will hold its annual memorial to those who died on Sept. 11, 2001, with a short half hour ceremony Sept. 11 beginning at 11 am.

The ceremony will take place at The Rising, Westchester County's September 11 Memorial at Kensico Dam Plaza in Valhalla. It is open to the public to attend.  

County Executive Robert P. Astorino will be joined by family members of some of the 111 Westchester residents who died in the terrorist attacks. Others expected include Rep. Nita Lowey and members of the Board of Legislators, including Chairman Ken Jenkins.

The program includes a laying of the wreath and reading of the names of Westchester's 9-11 victims.  The memorial lists the names of the Westchester residents who died and a quote about them from their loved ones.  Viewing of the memorial will follow the short ceremony.
