Bramson Endorsed by Planned Parenthood at New Rochelle Rally

New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson's candidacy for County Executive endorsed by Planned Parenthood. Candidate calls for passage of Cuomo's full Women's Equality Act.

Noam Bramson was endorsed by the Planned Parenthood Hudson Peconic Action Fund (PPHP Action Fund) at a rally in New Rochelle on Thursday according to a release from the mayor's office. During the rally, Bramson and representatives of the PPHP Action Fund also stressed the importance of passing the full Women’s Equality Act, a ten-point plan currently being debated in Albany.

Earlier this month, Bramson, who blogs on Patch, shared a letter he sent to every state senator and assembly member in Westchester County urging support for Governor Cuomo's 10-point Women's Equality Agenda.

"We are proud to endorse Mayor Noam Bramson for County Executive," Reina Schiffrin, President/CEO of the PPHP Action Fund said in the release. "He understands that access to health care and birth control are economic issues for women and families. We have every confidence that, as County Executive, Noam Bramson will lead the way to promote policies to protect and advance access to comprehensive reproductive health care and education in Westchester.”

"Westchester needs a County Executive who will support policies that protect women and their access to reproductive health care,” said Patricia Ryan, Chair of the PPHP Action Fund in the release.  “Since the day he took office, County Executive Astorino has been taking steps to roll back reproductive rights and access to sexual health information in Westchester."

“This endorsement is especially meaningful to me,” said Bramson in the release. “Here in Westchester County, we respect every woman’s right to make her own medical decisions - just as we respect every individual’s right to pursue their own dreams and achieve their potential free of discrimination.  Planned Parenthood and the leaders here with us today are dedicated to this mission, whether it’s in pressing for the full Women’s Equality Act in Albany or fighting to ensure that no woman is subject to intimidation when she needs access to a health care clinic.”

The PPHP Action Fund is a not-for-profit, non-partisan organization formed to serve as the political arm of Planned Parenthood Hudson Peconic.  Each year, more than 30,000 women, men, and teens in Suffolk, Westchester, Rockland, and Putnam counties come to Planned Parenthood Hudson Peconic for their reproductive and sexual health care needs.  The PPHP Action Fund engages in education and electoral activities including issue education, legislative advocacy, and voter education campaigns.
