Astorino, Officials to Open Rye Playland Boardwalk Thursday

Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino will officially open the new Playland boardwalk at noon on Thursday, his office announced.

The boardwalk, which suffered major damage during Hurricane Sandy, has been completely rebuilt. and a major section of the boardwalk –from  – had to be completely rebuilt.

The Phase I rebuild, which included repairs from the Pier Restaurant to the miniature golf course, was completed ahead of schedule and under budget last May.

The section from the miniature golf course to the Rye Town Park (Phase II) suffered damage and was fixed last year. But officials decided to have that section rebuilt with the same long lasting Brazilian hardwood used to rebuild the Phase I section and that work was recently completed.

In addition to Astorino, other officials expected to be on hand include Bill McNeice, president of Titan Construction, and Scott Donnelly, project manager, for the county's Department of Public Works.
