Update: Hutch/Merritt Parkway Reopened at King Street

The Hutchinson River Parkway North at Exit 30, King Street was reopened around 3:45 p.m. after a large steel beam fell off a truck on the roadway earlier today, according to state alerts.

The roadway under the bridge where the Hutch turns into the Merritt Parkway was closed after a four ton beam fell onto the roadway, almost crushing a White Plains' family's car around noon today. The beam was knocked off a tractor-trailer whose load was too large to make the bridge clearing.

No one was injured in the accident, police report. Traffic delays of up to half a mile in several directions were reported.
