Updated: State Police Release Names of Bus Crash Victims

Authorities have identified two people who were among the 15 killed in Saturday's bus crash on I-95.

On Monday,  New York State Police released the names of 13 people who slammed into a sign post and was split in half. However, two of the victims remained unidentified. Authorities said on Wednesday that these two victims have been identified. They will release the victim's names after notifying their families.

In addition, authorities have reunited a previously unidentified survivor with his family. Kin Chai Mock, 76, was identified on Tuesday and remains in critical condition at Jacobi Hospital.

The 13 identified people who died in the accident include men and women who ranged in age from 40 to 83-years old. Many of the victims were residents of New York City. 

The 13 victims whose names have been released include:

The accident occurred around 5:30 a.m. near Exit 14 on I-95 in the Bronx. The World Wide Tours bus had been traveling back from Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut when its driver, Ophadell Williams, 40, lost control of the vehicle, according to State police. The bus flipped over on its right side and continued to travel along a guardrail until it hit a sign post on the west side of the roadway, which sliced the bus in half from end to end.

Police said the cause of the accident is still under investigation, but according to several news reports, Williams told authorities he lost control of the bus when he tried to swerve after being clipped by a tractor-trailer in the adjacent lane.

In addition to Williams, 32 passengers were on the bus. Fourteen were pronounced dead at the scene, while 18 passengers were taken to Jacobi Medical Center and St. Barnabus Hospital in the Bronx. Seven people are still in serious condition at the hospital while one victim died Monday morning, according to state police.

Williams was treated at St. Barnabas Hospital for non-life threatening injuries and was released from the hospital.

New York State Police, the New York City Police Department and the National Transportation Safety Board are continuing to interview crash survivors and witnesses, are pursuing investigative leads, and will use forensic evidence to recreate the accident.
