Police: Yonkers Motorist Dies on Sprain

A Yonkers man stuck several trees Monday evening due to Sandy storm conditions.

A Yonkers man died while driving on the Sprain Brook Parkway in Greenburgh Monday evening, according to New York State Police.

The motorist's death was linked to dangerous storm conditions, police said.

A 1988 Toyota operated by a 54-year-old man was southbound in the left lane near Jackson Ave at 7:45 p.m. when he struck a large tree which had fallen across the roadway from the center median. The vehicle then continued down the center embankment striking several other trees, police said.

The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene and removed to Westchester Medical Center; the identity of the victim has not yet been released.

Sandy claimed at least four lives in the Lower Hudson Valley—a Pearl River man and two North Salem boys were killed by falling trees Monday night, as well.
