Schubert to Appear in Court Next Week

Robert Schubert will have to appear in court next Tuesday morning to respond to 2nd degree harassment charges stemming from an incident last Friday at Rye City Hall.

Robert Schubert has a Tuesday morning appointment next week in Rye City Court to respond to 2nd degree harassment charges.

Schubert was arrested last Friday after refusing to leave the office of Rye City Manager Scott Pickup. According to the police report, Schubert had visited Pickup's office on numerous occasions without an appointment and on Friday refused to leave upon request.

Pickup would not comment on the incident or the pending case.

An earlier police blotter post incorrectly reported that Schubert had not been arrested and that Councilwoman Catherine Parker was present. Schubert made reference to Councilwoman Parker during his visit to Pickup's office.

Police Lt. Joseph Verille said in an email that, "Mr. Schubert was under arrest when he was escorted from City Hall and transported to police HQ."

This incident is the latest development in an ongoing dispute between Mr. Schubert and the City of Rye that began five years ago regarding a decision affecting Mr. Schubert's Forest Drive property.
