Rye Teen Bicyclist Collides with Car on Boston Post Road

The 14-year-old boy suffered head injuries and the car was damaged.

A 14-year-old boy riding his bicycle eastward on Old Post Road collided with a vehicle driving south bond on Boston Post Road, fell off the bike and slid under the car, Rye City Police said. The incident occurred on Nov. 11 at 4:49 p.m., the night the City of Rye was celebrating Halloween, previously postponed due to Superstorm Sandy.

The boy, who was not wearing a helmet, suffered non-life threatening head injuries and was taken to Greenwich Hospital for treatment.

The boy said he couldn’t brake when the car was driving into the intersection and he ended up hitting the right side bumper, denting it and cracking a headlight, before falling off the bike and under the car, police said. A middle-aged Rye woman was driving the car.
