An Elmwood Avenue resident reported on Feb. 23 that some had stolen part of the glass pane from her exterior storm door. An officer who responded to the scene spoke to the woman, who stated that when she left her home around 2 p.m. the storm door was intact. When she came home around 4 p.m., the top glass pane of the door was missing. The officer checked the area, but detected no signs of foul play to the exterior of the home. There also were no signs of entry into the home.

Prescription Fraud

CVS Pharmacy on Boston Post Road told police on Feb. 22 that they had received information regarding fraudulent prescriptions. Apparently, an unknown person stole a prescription pad from a doctor based in New Rochelle. The prescription was given to CVS on two separate occasions.

Jacket Stolen from Restaurant

On Feb. 21, a Theodore Fremd Avenue resident told police that someone had stolen his $850 sports jacket from the Rye Grill & Bar. He said that at 10 p.m. he noticed his jacket was gone. The jacket contained a Blackberry cell phone, Canon camera, leather gloves and $180. There were no suspects or witnesses at the time the report was filed.

Scarsdale Man Drives Drunk

While on patrol on Feb. 21, an officer saw a Grey Volvo driving in an erratic manner. The car was disrupting the flow of traffic at the intersection of Theodore Fremd and Hammond Road, moving at a very slow pace and swerving over the road markings on the left side of the road. The officer continued to follow the car as it swerved across the yellow lines for the second time just south of the Theodore Fremd Avenue and North Street intersection.

The officer pulled the car over near Playland Access Road and asked the driver, 70-year-old Donald Svoboda of Scarsdale, to give him his license and registration. Svoboda asked why the officer stopped him, at which point the officer noticed a strong odor of alcohol on his breath. His speech also was slurred and his eyes were bloodshot and watery. The officer asked him where he was coming from and Svoboda said the Roadhouse and then stated the Coveleigh Club. He was unable to give a decisive answer. The officer asked him if he had been drinking and he said he had had a couple of drinks. Svoboda was then asked to step out of the car, but when he did he could not keep his balance or stand and was holding on to the side of the car door. The officer noticed that Svoboda’s pants zipper was open and that he had urinated on himself. He was still unable to stand, so the officer arrested him. Svoboda was unable to perform a field sobriety test in a safe manner because he was too drunk. The officer tried three more times to give him a chemical test, but Svoboda refused. He was given summonses and released on $100 bail. He must appear in Rye City Court on March 1.

Theft from Boat

On Feb. 19, a Sherman Place resident told police that someone had stolen a TV/DVD unit from his boat. The unit was installed in a 28’ Sea Ray Sundance boat that was docked at the Tide Mill in Rye.

Pocketbook Theft

A woman told police on Feb. 17 that someone had stolen $480 from her pocketbook during business hours at her employer on Theall Road. No credit or debit cards were stolen from her purse.

Aggravated Harassment

A man came to police headquarters on Feb. 15 to report aggravated harassment. The man stated that he has been receiving several unwarranted phone calls from someone in North Carolina. He also filed a separate report of harassment with the Scarsdale Police Department.

Employee Theft

A man told police on Feb. 14 that an ex-employee had been stealing reward points from his Staples card. The reward cards had a dollar amount only to be used for products from Staples and had no U.S. dollar value. The man stated that the ex-employee was the only one with access to the account.
