A rundown of police incidents in Rye

Larceny

On April 19, a 25-year-old Port Chester man reported a bicycle theft to police. Man told police that left his bicycle on a rack in front of the YMCA around 2 p.m. When he returned seven hours later, around 9pm, the bike was no longer there.

Vandalism

A Rye resident told police that he parked his vehicle in his driveway on April 15 at 9 p.m. When he returned to the car at 7:00 a.m. the next morning, he noticed that the front passenger side window of his vehicle was shattered. There was broken glass on the ground and inside the vehicle.

Vehicle Larceny

On April 16, a Rye woman reported to police that she arrived home just before midnight and parked her car in the driveway. Upon leaving in the next morning she noticed her passenger side window smashed and items taken from her car.

Lost or Stolen License Plate

Officer took a report from a resident on April 16 regarding a stolen boat trailer license plate. The resident stated that someone had stolen his boat trailer license plate between February 15 and April 16 while it was being stored in the Rye City Marina.

Criminal Mischief

On April 18, officers arrived at Midland School and documented a graffiti incident. Custodian Bill Mahoney reported it to police. Someone sprayed a small amount of graffiti on the school and recreation bleachers. After police documented the incident, Mahoney immediately removed the graffiti.

Building Theft

Woman reported to police that a gutter had been stolen from her house on April 15. The woman's contractor, who was doing repair work on her home, reported to work on the morning of April 11 and notice that about 250 feet of copper leader pipes were stolen from the residence on Hunt Place sometime overnight.

Larceny

Man reported to police that a school sign was taken sometime on April 10. The sign belonged to the boys varsity lacrosse team. Police took the victim's statement.

Simple Assault

On April 12, a resident of Barlow Lane reported being struck from behind with a hockey stick by four youths in an older Toyota. Victim states that he was riding his bicycle northbound on Boston Post Road, near Rye Road, when an older model Toyota four door, which had silver and gray two-tone color, drove up behind him. A 15-16 year old leaned out of the car window and struck him and the vehicle drove away.

Criminal Mischief

Rye woman reported to police that sometime overnight on April 2 an unknown party damaged two driveway lanterns and two walkway lanterns on her property. She returned to her home from a vacation the night before around 9:30 p.m. and did not notice any damage. When she woke up around 8 a.m. the next morning, she noticed the damage.
