Police incidents in Rye and Rye Brook this week

Construction Theft

A construction foreman reported to police that sometime between January 9 and 10 at 7:30 a.m. someone broke into his locked trailer and stole property. The property was stolen from a construction site on Club Road.

Pellet Hit

A man reported that on January 11 he was walking home and was hit by an object. The man said that at 7:30 p.m. he was walking home through Louden Woods and was hit by a paint pellet. He did not see who fired the pellet.

Injured Animal

Police report that a deer was struck on North Street. The animal was badly injured from a possible moving vehicle.

Criminal Mischief

A man reported that his car had been vandalized this week. The man said he left his car parked overnight in the driveway of his home near Grace Church Street. The man said someone egged his car sometime overnight.

CraigsList Fraud

An employee at the Osborn Retirement Community issued a report to the police on January 11, saying that he was the target of fraud. The man said he received an invalid check from a woman he had been corresponding with after he posted an item for sale on CraigsList.

Guns Retrieved

Police report that on January 7 a man came into headquarters to collect property that had been kept for safekeeping. The man retrieved a Smith & Wesson 38 SPL revolver and a Sterling .25 pistol, which were dropped off at the police station in 2005.

Man Dragged by Own Car

On January 12, a scanner call was made to police saying that a man was being dragged by his own vehicle.  Just after 12 p.m., a passing motorist called police and told them the man was pushing a Dodge Intrepid, which had apparently broken down, near the cottage street exit on the I-95 ramp. The man was pushing the car when the the vehicle started to drag him. Police arrived on the scene and reported that the man was ok and didn't suffer any serious injuries. His vehicle was towed.

Accident on the Hutch

An accident occurred on the Hutchinson Parkway southbound in the area of Ridge Street in Rye Brook on Wednesday, January 13. Two vehicles collided in the accident, which occurred around 7:20 p.m. EMS from both Harrison and Port Chester responded to the incident. One woman was taken to Greenwich Hospital, while two other people involved in the accident refused medical attention at the scene.
