Rye Fire Department to Hold Open House Sunday

A message from the Rye FD.

The Rye Fire Department will open its doors to area residents, so they can learn about what it takes to be a volunteer firefighter in their community, as part of the third annual RecruitNY statewide initiative. As part of RecruitNY, on Sunday, April 28 between 12:00pm and 3:00pm, the Rye Fire Department, located at 15 Locust Ave in Rye, NY will join fire departments all across the state for a unified recruitment drive, as part of National Volunteer Week 2013.

Throughout the open house, The Rye Fire Department will conduct tours of the station and apparatus, allow visitors to try on firefighting gear, and provide activities throughout the firehouse for visitors. The fire department will discuss what it means to be a volunteer, as well as conduct demonstrations and answer questions.

General requirements for membership include any man or woman aged 18 and older who live or work in the City of Rye or a surrounding community and have the desire to participate in fire and/or emergency activities. No training or fire service experience is necessary for membership as The Rye Fire Department will sponsor all necessary training. See our "recruitment" tab on the left menu for more info.

Call the volunteer info line at 914-315-0088 or email info@ryefire.com for more information.
