Rye Man Pleads Guilty to Sex Acts with Dog, Burglary

The former building superintendent faces a maximum sentence of fifteen years in state prison and will have to register as a sex offender.

A former Rye building superintendent plead guilty to breaking into an apartment and engaging in sex acts with a dog today in Westchester County court. Kujtim Nicaj, 43, of 58 C Peck Ave., Rye plead guilty to the charges resulting from a Feb. 8, 2012 incident at Rye Colony Cooperative Apartments, according to the Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore.

Nicaj plead guilty to:

  • one count of Burglary in the Second Degree as a Sexually Motivated Felony, a class “C” violent felony
  • one count of sexual misconduct, a class “A” misdemeanor.

DiFiore said Nicaj, who at the time was superintendent at Rye Colony Cooperative Apartments, entered the victim’s apartment without authorization. While inside, the Nicaj engaged in multiple sex acts with the owner’s 15 month old Labrador retriever dog, according to the indictment.

DiFiore said the conduct was recorded on "nanny cam" type device, which the homeowner had previously set up.

The Rye City police were notified about the recorded incident and Nicaj was questioned and then arrested by Rye City police.

“This defendant engaged in behavior that is not only reprehensible but also was abusive to someone’s pet,” said District Attorney Janet DiFiore after the defendant’s guilty plea. “Taking advantage of a helpless animal is an act of depravity which has often been a predictor of violence against humans.”

Sentencing will be on Jan. 15, 2013.

The defendant was remanded after his plea.

The defendant faces a maximum sentence of fifteen years in state prison and will have to register as a sex offender.

Assistant District Attorney Wendy Parra of the Sex Crimes Bureau and Assistant District Attorney Mary Ann Liebowitz of the Investigations Division, Animal Cruelty Unit prosecuted the case.

Let's look at the appropriateness of this post. First, it's clearly an ad because it points to aRead More specific insurance agent at a specific agency to contact. Second, it attempts to hide being an ad behind what may be useful information (or not). Third, the "person" who posted it doesn't use their real name. Instead, they use a pseudonym Divorce Information NOW. That doesn’t seem terribly reassuring to me. This the third advertising post on the “announcements” space since Rye Patch converted to the new site layout. Seems a bit of a mess to me. But hopefully someone will come along and figure out who the real poster is, their link to the advertised agent and agency, and then delete the post. After all, if it’s an ad, it should be labeled as such and the poster should pay for having it run. If that doesn’t happen, Patch won’t be able to pay its employees to keep real content on the site.
