Police Respond to Halloween Weekend Mischief In Rye
Police received several calls of loud and rowdy youth on Nov. 10, the night before Rye's rescheduled Halloween night.
Rye police received several calls on the weekend of Nov. 10 that they usually get two weeks earlier in the year. The city of Rye rescheduled Halloween for Nov. 11, after Superstorm Sandy caused widespread city power outages and storm damage. On the belated Halloween night and the night before, Mischief Night, city police responded to the same types of calls they are used to and said they received no reports of vandalism.
Party on Hammond Road
On Oct. 10 at 10:06 p.m. police received a report of a large group of youths fighting in the street on Hammond Road. The youths dispersed prior to police arrival. Police found a party at 6 Hammond Road and dispersed the group again.

‘Roaming Groups of Teens’
On Oct. 10 at 11 p.m. police received a report of a large group of youths interfering with traffic on Dearborn Ave and Milton Rd. Police issued a warning and canvassed the area. They found several roaming groups of youths and told them to stay on the sidewalk and out of the street.

Youths Drinking, Throwing Beer Cans
On Oct. 10 at 11:17 p.m. police received a report of youths drinking and throwing beer cans and in the area of Thorne Place and Rye Gardens. The kids were gone when police arrived in the area.
Noise Complaint
On Oct. 10 at 11:52 p.m. police received a noise complaint that a teen was playing his guitar on the front porch on Hewlett Ave. and Milton Road.
Party Crashers
On Oct. 10 at 10:18 p.m. police received a report from a resident on Forest Ave. that a large group of youths were trying to enter the resident’s daughter’s small gathering of friends. Police arrived and the group dispersed.
Unsafe Skateboarding
On Oct. 10 at 10:21 p.m. police received a report of neighborhood trouble. The caller said there were kids skateboarding on Garver Drive. Police spoke to the kids and advised them to go to a safer place for skateboarding.
Dangerous Snow Balls
On Nov. 9 at 4:35 p.m. a driver reported that kids were throwing snow balls at cars and almost causing accidents near Rye High School.
