New Fire Chiefs Elected in Rye City, Welcomed by City Council

The Rye City Council welcomed three newly elected Rye City Fire Department heads. Chief Michael Taylor,1st Assistant Chief Peter Cotter and 2nd Assistant Chief Michael Billington were acknowledged at last night's meeting.

The elected three new chiefs at its recent annual meeting: Chief Michael Taylor, 1st Assistant Chief Peter Cotter and 2nd Assistant Chief Michael Billington. Cotter and Billington received thanks and acknowledgement from the Rye City Council Wednesday night. 

Peter Cotter has lived in Rye for 50 years and served as a volunteer for 39 years; he is stationed at . Michael Billington has lived in Rye 57 years and served as a volunteer with the Rye City Department for 33 years; he is stationed with .

This Sunday, April 23 at 2 p.m. for anyone over 18 who is interested in volunteering with the department. Roles range from firefighter to development to administrative support.
