Morning snow is keeping Rye-area authorities busy, as they respond to multiple accidents on roadways throughout Southern Westchester.
The most serious accident involved an overturned school bus on I-684 in West Harrison around 7:15 a.m. The bus has not been identified as belonging to the Harrison Central School District at this time.
An official in Harrison Superintendent Louis Wool's office said the district had not been informed of any accidents involving their buses.
According to LoHud, a passerby saw an overturned small yellow school bus with the back door open. No students were seen inside.
Pat Galluzzo, chief of the West Harrison Fire Department, said the area had three or four accidents this morning involving minor injuries.
"I-684 is very, very slippery as always. It catches everybody by surprise. There's a lot of spin-outs and cars sliding," Galluzzo said.
In Rye, several incidents were reported over police scanners as of 10:30 a.m.
At 8:23 a.m., a tree came down on left side of roadway on I-95 North, near Midland Avenue. Police responded to the incident and sent someone to clear the roadway.
At 8:45 a.m. on 96 Appawamis Avenue near Midland, a vehicle hit a pole. EMS were called to the scene after the driver's airbag deployed. Authorities responded to the incident with caution because of the hazardous road conditions.The driver was not seriously injured by the accident or the airbag.
At 8:47 a.m., a Range Rover and Honda Accord collided near Station Plaza. No injuries were reported.
9:00 a.m. Two cars got into a minor collision on the exit ramp on I-95 across the street from the Courtyard Marriott on Midland Avenue. No one was injured.
At 9:18 a.m., a multiple car accident occurred in the driveway of Community Synagogue on Forest Avenue in Rye. One woman involved in the accident requested medical attention. No other serious injuries were reported.
Other reported accidents in Westchester Wednesday morning include an overturned vehicle in Larchmont on Weaver Street and Sackett Drive.
In Katonah, multiple units were searching for a possible downed fisherman in the ice.
Other accidents were reported on Taconic State Parkway, Sprain Brook Parkway, Saw Mill Parkway and Hutchinson River Parkway.
