Mamaroneck Mother Charged With Murder of 4-Year-Old Son

Village of Mamaroneck Police formally arrested the woman whom they suspect was responsible for her son's death.

Village of Mamaroneck Police arrested Manuela Maria Morgado, 46, tonight on a felony charge of second degree murder in connection with her 4-year-old son's death Monday morning, said Village of Mamaroneck (VOM) Police.

Morgado was arraigned in village court tonight and was remanded to Westchester County Jail without bail; she is due back in court on Oct. 4, said a statement from VOM Police.

Police were called to Morgado's residence at the Continental View Condominium Complex at 1035 East Boston Post Rd. in Mamaroneck around 10:30 a.m. Monday morning when they found the deceased boy and his mother, in a state of semi-consciousness.

News 12 reports that the boy—identified as Jason—was living with Manuela while she was battling his father, Briarcliff Manor resident Dr. Tim Reish, over custody of their son.  They report that the incident was an attempted murder-suicide.

Dr. Reish was an orthopedic surgeon who was part of the Insall Scott Kelly Institute (ISK).  According to the practice's website, he specializes in sports-related injuries and had extensive experience working with Division 1 athletes.

There was an eerie sense of calm at the Continental View Complex tonight, as VOM Police and news' trucks crowded the narrow driveway in front of the complex, with no residents coming or going.
