Lt. Robert Falk Back on the Beat

Lt. Robert Falk is back on full duty after several weeks on medical leave.

Lt. Robert Falk is back on the beat. Today was the beloved officer’s first day back from several weeks on medical leave.

“I’ve gotten a ton of community support,” said Lt. Falk about the reception he’s received today and over the past few weeks.

Days before going on leave, Falk had been for his work with the business community and supervising popular events such as Mistletoe Magic, the Turkey Trot, and countless school parades.

Falk said he had surgery after going on leave June 28, but has recovered quickly. During the time off, Falk said he obeyed doctor's orders but kept active walking three or four miles a day near his North Salem home.

Rye Police Commissioner William Connors said Falk’s speedy recovery had everything to do with Falk’s strong will and the community’s affection for him.

“I’m thrilled to see him back in action,” said Commissioner Connors. “His desire to get back to work quickly and the outpouring of support he’s gotten from the community verifies two things I already knew: he loves his job and the community feels equally strong about him."

Let's look at the appropriateness of this post. First, it's clearly an ad because it points to aRead More specific insurance agent at a specific agency to contact. Second, it attempts to hide being an ad behind what may be useful information (or not). Third, the "person" who posted it doesn't use their real name. Instead, they use a pseudonym Divorce Information NOW. That doesn’t seem terribly reassuring to me. This the third advertising post on the “announcements” space since Rye Patch converted to the new site layout. Seems a bit of a mess to me. But hopefully someone will come along and figure out who the real poster is, their link to the advertised agent and agency, and then delete the post. After all, if it’s an ad, it should be labeled as such and the poster should pay for having it run. If that doesn’t happen, Patch won’t be able to pay its employees to keep real content on the site.
