House Fire in Rye Injures None, Displaces 5

Firefighters responded to early-morning blaze

A basement fire in a Rye house Thursday morning left no one injured but a family of five displaced, authorities told Patch.

The blaze occurred at about 7 a.m. at 19 Franklin Avenue. Although firefighters were able to extinguish the flames in about one hour, heavy smoke came up one story and poured out the home's windows.

Patch spoke with officials at Rye Fire Department at about 11 a.m., who said the cause of the fire is still unknown, and Rye's fire chief was at the scene investigating.
