Flooding, Rain Damage in Rye

Information on flooding problems in Rye on Sept. 28, which was a stormy day.

On Sept. 28 police received several calls around 9:28 a.m. that a light was out on Boston Post Road and Purchase Street. Police officer Balls assisted with traffic.

On Sept. 28 around 11:35 a.m. police received numerous calls that reported flooding in the area of Community Synagogue on Forest Ave. and Fieldstone Road. A car was stuck in the water and police officer Amlung was dispatched. The Department of Public Works was on the scene.

At 11:59 a.m. the same day a caller claimed that his back yard was flooded a neighbor pumping water from their units onto his property. Police officer Amlung was dispatched to the scene and the caller was advised on the procedure of how to file a claim in Rye City Court.

On Sept. 30 at 3:07 p.m. a caller reported that they knocked the storm drain cover into the drain on 4 Franklin Ave. 

On Sept. 30 at 3:30 p.m. a caller reported sewer backing up into the street, the road was flooded on 115 Drake Smith Lane.
