Police have not released the victim's name.

Speed does not appear to be a factor in the accident.  Charges will not be filed against the driver, police said.

The accident occurred near the same intersection where 10-year old Jarrid Amico was struck and killed by a car more than three years ago.

The Journal News is reporting that Jim Amico, Jarrid's father, was arrested at the scene of the accident for allegedly interfering with police.

Pedestrian safety was a frequent topic of discussion at Wednesday night's city council meeting. Amico spoke at the city council meeting and asked the council why road improvement work at the intersection of North Street and Theodore Fremd Avenue was not yet completed. Council member Peter Jovanovich suggested that pedestrian safety upgrades be prioritized on the list of the city's capital improvement projects.
