Applebees Restaurant Worker Charged in $8,100 Theft

Former Applebees employee accused of taking cash from daily receipts in January.

A former manager at a Port Chester restaurant has been arrested in connection with the theft of more than $8,100 in daily receipts from the business in January, according to Port Chester Police.

Village police officers arrested Bruce Bimbo, 29, of 1364 Locust Hill Ave., Yonkers, on Wednesday as he reported to a probation officer in Yonkers in connection with a pervious drug charge in Yonkers. Bimbo was charged with third-degree grand larceny.

Police said Bimbo is accused of taking a total of $8,182 from Jan. 10 to 20 from the Port Chester Applebees, where he was working as a manager and had been employed for five years. A review of restaurant deposits led to Applebees filing a theft complaint, police said.

Bimbo, according to police, was fired by Applebees after discrepancies were discovered. When a complaint was filed, police found that Bimbo was no longer at his last given address. An investigation by Port Chester detectives led to the discovery that Bimbo was scheduled to meet with a probation officer in Yonkers on Wednesday.

He was arrested at that meeting and brought back to Port Chester for arraignment in Village Court. Bimbo was later released pending a May 9 hearing.
